The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) has cautioned individuals against wagering through an illicit website situated in the United States.
PAGCOR issued the alert following media reports that revealed fraudsters were utilizing the link Starspangled200.org to divert users to unlawful gambling platforms operating in the Philippines.
The website address was printed on license plates of nearly 800,000 registered vehicles in Maryland to promote the state’s historical significance. However, the URL redirects to Globeinternational.info, a platform that illicitly provides gambling services.
PAGCOR Chairman and CEO Alejandro Tengco stated that this infringes upon the rights of players and tarnishes the Philippines’ reputation for secure and legal gambling.
“PAGCOR has no association with the aforementioned website and the gambling activities that take place there,” Tengco stated. “As the nation’s gaming regulator, PAGCOR will not condone unlawful online gambling.
“Engaging in or placing bets on illicit gambling activities is not only a transgression but also results in billions of pesos in lost revenue for the government, funds that could have been allocated to finance more crucial projects that benefit the Filipino people.”
Consequently, we have been collaborating with multiple governmental bodies and law enforcement organizations to ensure our gaming regulations are established and that the online gaming platforms we oversee are secure and dependable.
Tenco stated that the event has been forwarded to its security and surveillance division for further examination. Moreover, the website has been reported to appropriate governmental authorities.
Supervisory Measures
This caution follows a series of recent regulatory choices made by Pagcor. In the preceding month, Pagcor rescinded the license of Sun Valley Clark, citing that the company’s facilities were being utilized for illicit activities.
Previously, CGC Technologies (which occupied six structures in the heart of Sun Valley) had its license revoked the previous week after investigations revealed the company was engaged in unlawful operations.
Pagcor has also recently issued warnings to Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs) participating in illegal activities.
Tenco encouraged all offshore licensees and service providers in the nation to operate within the boundaries of their licenses.
