Scientific Games has acquired Authentic Gaming, a firm specializing in the creation of casino games. This marks Scientific Games’ inaugural foray into the live casino sector.
This transaction will empower Scientific Games to produce live casino games for a global audience. This aligns with their strategic growth plan, encompassing expansion into the US online gambling market and diversification of their game offerings. They executed a similar acquisition in August, acquiring Lightning Box, a game development company.
Authentic Gaming boasts extensive experience within the European online gambling landscape. They supply games to prominent operators such as Betway, Entain, and Mr Green. Originally established as a subsidiary of LeoVegas, they subsequently achieved independent status. In October 2019, Genting acquired Authentic for £15 million.
Dylan Slaney, Scientific Games’ online gambling executive, expressed confidence that this acquisition will position them favorably to capitalize on the convergence of live and digital gaming.
He stated, “We are thrilled to collaborate with the exceptional team at Authentic to enhance our online gambling offerings for both operators and players.”
Barry Cottle, Scientific Games’ chief executive, conveyed his “delight at welcoming Authentic Gaming into the Scientific Games family.”
Scientific Games’ confirmed desktop gaming products and the strength of their OpenGaming platform allow them to employ a distinctive multi-channel strategy to seize the expanding opportunities in the American market, according to Koetter.
This agreement follows Scientific Games’ announcement of the sale of their lottery operations to Brookfield Business Partners for $6.5 billion. The company also divested their sports betting operations, including the OpenBet platform, to IMG owner Endeavor in September.
