The UK Gaming Commission has cautioned gambling businesses to be wary of unauthorized promotional materials. They are concerned about advertisements that pop up on websites that unlawfully share copyrighted material.
The Commission is informing operators to ensure their ads are not being displayed on these websites, even if it’s done by associate companies working for them. They are requesting operators to immediately sever ties with any companies that are placing ads on these illegal websites.
The Commission has provided operators with a list of websites that violate copyright, and they have made it clear that any advertising on these sites is contributing to funding illicit activities. They are worried that this connects gambling to criminal behavior.
The Commission stated that while they have observed a reduction in gambling advertisements on these websites, some are still appearing. They are urging operators to carefully examine their advertising practices and make sure they are not supporting unlawful websites.
Lately, the Gaming Authority carried out an inquiry that resulted in the closure of an illicit lottery operating via the social media platform Facebook.
