A tennis representative from Bulgaria has received a lifetime ban from the sport due to dishonest practices. Pavel Atanasov was determined to have committed 21 violations of the Tennis Anti-Corruption Program (TACP), which included altering match results for wagering advantages and assisting others in placing bets.
Although Atanasov initially disputed the allegations, he later rescinded his challenge. He is prohibited from officiating or being present at any tennis competition authorized by the sport’s regulatory bodies. A $10,000 penalty was also imposed on him.
The International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) has been taking strict action against corruption in recent times, resulting in numerous players and officials receiving suspensions and financial penalties.
Simon Horner received a penalty for endorsing wagering on tennis matches. He agreed to offer his expertise and promotional support to a gaming company.
This conduct was found to be in breach of the Tennis Anti-Corruption Program. The program’s rules clearly state that individuals covered by the program cannot, directly or indirectly, assist, incentivize, or advertise any form of betting on tennis matches.
