The Betsson Group has completed the transformation of its Brazilian wagering platform from Suaposta to Betsson. This marks the culmination of the brand overhaul that commenced with Betsson’s purchase of a 75% share in Suaposta last December.
Suaposta, formerly held by Codere SA, was a major contender in Brazilian online equestrian wagering. This acquisition signaled Betsson’s entrance into the dynamic Brazilian market. The name change is part of a broader partnership with the Jockey Club of Rio Grande do Sul, encompassing system integration and the formation of a dedicated Brazilian customer support unit.
André Gelfi, originator of Suaposta and current Managing Director of Betsson Brazil, conveyed his excitement: “We are delighted to introduce our new platform and solidify the Betsson brand in Brazil. We guaranteed a smooth changeover by keeping our patrons informed throughout the rebranding process.”
Despite the hurdles presented by the COVID-19 outbreak, Betsson witnessed substantial expansion in 2020, posting a 20% year-over-year rise in earnings, reaching SEK 1.53 billion (roughly US$170.8 million) in the second quarter alone. This showcases the company’s adaptability and robust market standing as it ventures into new regions.
